Natural Treatments and Lifestyle Changes Could Be All You Need to Be Rid of Hemorrhoids

Posted on 31 March 2016

There are a number of conditions that are extremely uncomfortable to have to deal with. Eczema, Psoriasis, and Irritable Bowel Syndrome are some, but few are more uncomfortable, painful, or embarrassing than hemorrhoids. Figuring out how to get rid of hemorrhoids can, unfortunately, be an ongoing process for some people. In some cases natural treatments and lifestyle changes are not enough, and in other cases the right lifestyle changes or most effective natural treatments are not being used.

Natural hemorrhoid treatments primarily include lifestyle changes and home remedies. Natural treatments include applying witch hazel topically, soaking regularly in a warm bath, using a cold compress to reduce swelling, and avoiding using dry toilet paper, so that you do not further irritate the skin. In many cases these treatments are enough to get rid of hemorrhoids.

Lifestyle changes include eating lots of fiber and drinking lots of water, exercising, and avoiding sitting for long periods. These changes are all a good start to reducing the chances of getting hemorrhoids. Engaging in preventative measures can be the cheapest and the easiest method for treating hemorrhoids, and your doctor can tell you which changes in particular may work best for you.

But what do you do if the prescribed treatment for hemorrhoids and lifestyle changes do not work? Can you get rid of hemorrhoids for good? Hemorrhoidectomy, or hemorrhoid removal, is one of the most effective ways to be rid of hemorrhoids and reduce the chances that they will come back. There are other less invasive procedures that can be performed instead, such as rubber band litigation, sclerotherapy, or coagulation via lasers. As embarrassing as it may be, consulting with a doctor is the best way to determine which procedures will be best for your individual case.
